3 Things Jesus Said About Peace

When you're afraid, when you're in a difficult time, and when you're facing strife, peace is the answer.

John 14:27  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

The peace Jesus offers here can be expressed by the Hebrew word shalom: wholeness, perfection and wholeness. And it's given; it's not something you need to earn. When you're afraid your future will be missing something, put your opens hands before Him and ask for His peace. He is enough.

John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

We can have peace in the middle of difficult and trying times. The Gospel doesn't promise worldly prosperity but Jesus does tell us we have to face challenges as Christians. He has overcome the world, and the same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us.

Matthew 5:9  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Don't be tempted to escalate an argument to satisfy your emotions, to seek revenge, or to allow the oppression of a person or group. It's our heritage as children of God to love, to bless when we've been wounded, and to fight for justice for the marginalized. Anyone who interacts with you should be able to say that you are a peacemaker, and you bring peace wherever you go.
