Should We Still Live In Guilt When We Have Been Forgiven By God?

Part of becoming a Christian is recognizing your own sin and that you need God's forgiveness. No matter how good or bad you think you are, we all need His forgiveness. When we realize that we need forgiveness, we may at first feel like it is out of our reach. The weight of sin is heavy and bears down on us, but God wants to take that weight away.

Jesus says in Matthew 11:29-30
"Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

When we trust that God has forgiven us of all of our sins, we can live without that burden bearing down on us every day. Once we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and truly experience God's love and forgiveness, we can live in peace with Him and with ourselves. God does not want us to live in the shadow of our sins or to stay in a place of guilt. We have been bought with Christ's blood, and our sins are no longer.

"as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us." Psalm 103:12

"But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:5

There is nothing in this world that can replace the feeling of God's everlasting love and forgiveness. Our prayer for you is that you experience the peace in knowing that God has forgiven you!
