God is all-powerful. He created the heavens and the earth and He rules over all the universe. Yes this same God is loving, and kind. He wants to help us to overcome the problems in our daily lives through the power of His Holy Spirit.
We can experience God’s power when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord and ask God to fill us and control us and empower us by the power of His Holy Spirit.
The Bible says “Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.” The Bible also tells us “This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.”
So how do we have the power of God to overcome sin, and temptation, and the weakness of our own selfish natures? We can experience God’s power through faith – the power of God’s Holy Spirit working in our lives.
Before I was a Christian, I struggled to stop various bad habits. Once I accepted Christ and was filled with the Holy Spirit, I was able to stop them through His power. Jesus gave me the power to overcome my own weaknesses. This does not mean we will be perfect – as long as we live in this world we will have struggles with our own selves as well as with outside temptations.
But with God’s Holy Spirit in our lives, as we ask His Holy Spirit to help us and to give us His power, God can give us His power to overcome sin and weakness in our lives. We cannot do it ourselves, but “If God is for us, who can be against us?”
