I am the way, and the truth, and the life.

This is a bold statement that Jesus said.  What does it mean?

In speaking to His disciples as recorded in the book of John, chapter 14, Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me."

What does this mean? Here are some thoughts. When He said "I am the way," Jesus was indicating that He is the way to God.  We must come to God through Jesus, because Jesus Christ died for our sins and He is the Son of God.

When He said "I am the truth," Jesus was probably saying two things. One, that everything He said was and is true.  Second, Jesus Himself is God and so He is the embodiment of truth.

And when Jesus said "I am the life," this can have several levels of meaning. Jesus is eternal life for all who believe in Him. He is and has that life in Himself, because He truly is God. And in knowing Jesus there is true life!
