Names of God: YAHWEH-SHALOM

Today in our series on the biblical names of God we look at Yahweh-Shalom: The Lord Our Peace.

Gideon first used this name of God in Judges 6:24, building an altar in response to the Lord's promise that he would not die after seeing the Angel of the Lord. Shalom is a rich word in Hebrew. Peace in english can mean a time without war or noise. Shalom means things are whole and right, within a person internally and throughout a community.

Isaiah 9:6 calls Jesus the Prince of Peace, and Isaiah 26:3 promises, You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Take your worries, your fears, and your brokenness, and bring them to the Prince of Peace, who, as we trust Him, brings us the complete satisfaction and peace of God.
