What is the Shortest Book in the Bible – And What Encouraging Verse Does it Contain?

The shortest book in the Bible is 3 John.  The Apostle John wrote 5 of the books in the New Testament in the Bible.  He wrote the Gospel of John, the book of Revelation, and 3 letters that are called 1 John, 2 John, and 3 John.

3 John has just 15 verses in English and is very short.  It is filled with John’s love for the Christians he is writing to.

The second verse of 3 John is tremendously encouraging.  He writes to them, “Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.”

John is praying that his fellow Christians will prosper in all respects.  This can mean spiritually, financially, with their families, and in every way.  He also prays that they will be in good health; who among us does not need good health?  And he prays that their soul prospers, or flourishes, or does well.

So let us pray for one another and for ourselves that our soul and body and every aspect of our lives will prosper and do well!
