The Bible says that God is love.
God’s basic nature is love. That doesn’t mean God is not just, or all-powerful, or all-knowing because He is all these things.
But at the center of God’s being, He is love. God so loved the world that He gave His only Son Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him would not perish but would have everlasting life.
If God were not love, He would not be patient with all of us here on earth. We have sinned, and we deserve His judgment. But instead of just judging us as we deserve, He gave His only Son to die for us to pay the punishment we deserved.
God loves us so much that He wants us to be with Him in heaven. Imagine that! God, the perfect God, the only God who is the creator of the entire universe, wants us – we who are imperfect, and so limited, and so weak – to join Him in heaven forever!
God truly is love!
