5 Ways To Love Your Parents Like Christ Loves You

When we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior and the Holy Spirit came to live within us, a change happened inside of us. Instead of living for ourselves, we strive to live for Him. How does this affect our family relationships? Today we look at how we can love our parents as Christ loves us.

The Bible tells us that we are to "Honor our Father and Mother."

“‘Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may go well with you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you." Deuteronomy 5:16

"Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins." 1 Peter 4:8

How is your relationship with your parents? Whether they were the best parents you could ask for or they failed you in more than one way, the way you treat them as a Christian should still be God-honoring.

You can love your parents like Christ loves you by:

  1. Praying for them.
  2. Forgiving them.
  3. Respecting their wishes.
  4. Visiting/talking with them often.
  5. Reminding them they are loved.
