What is the 1st Key?
There are many keys to growing as a Christian; we have identified 6 that are highly important to your Christian life.
The first key? Be sure you are a Christian! This seems very basic, but it is something many people can be confused about.
What makes you a Christian? Is it going to church, or living a good life, or giving money to the poor? These can all be good things, but they do not make you a Christian.
What makes you a Christian is if you believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died for your sin and have asked Him to be your Savior and Lord. The Bible says "As many as received Him, to them He gave the power to become children of God, even to those who believe on His name."
Jesus said, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life."
So what makes you a Christian is very simple -- do you believe in Jesus as the Son of God and have you received Him into your life as Savior and Lord? If so, you are a Christian - and that is the first basis for the Christian life!
