What Is The #1 Command We Are Told Not To Do?

There are many many commands in the Bible. Some are telling us to do something, and some are saying not to do something. I think most of them are all pretty important, but there is one in particular that is something NOT to do, and it is something I think we are all guilty of now and then.

The #1 Do Not Command in the Bible is- DO NOT FEAR. Those words or a variation of them appear over 300 times in the Bible. Why do you think it was so important to God that He made sure to get this message across? God created each of us, and He knows that as humans, we tend to be fearful. Fearful of other people, the future, the weather, the unknown, and the list could go on and on.

As Christ-followers, we must remember that our God is in control! No matter what happens or doesn't happen during our short time on Earth, we need not be afraid, because He is with us. He is our shield and we can trust Him to take care of His children.

Here are just a few of the verses that say Do Not Fear

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Psalm 23:4

“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." Luke 12:32

"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28

"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows." Matthew 10:29-31
