Salvation produces evidence in our lives of God's fruit. 1 John tells us that a true Christian will:
1. Confess that Jesus Christ is Lord
- 1 John 4:15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.
2. Obey the commandments of Christ
- 1 John 5:3 In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome...
3. Feel discomfort when you sin
- 1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.
4. Keep yourself from the devil
- 1 John 5:18 We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them.
5. Love others
- 1 John 5:6 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.
