In John 1, Jesus calls His first disciples to follow Him. One after the other, they leave their ordinary lives to "come and see" who Jesus is...
One of the first followers was Philip. The very same day that Philip met Jesus, he was already urging others to come and see Jesus too.
In John 1:45, Philip finds Nathanael to tell him:
“We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
Nathanael hesitates and doubts that anything good can come out of Nazareth. But still, Philip urges,
"Come and see!"
As Nathanael approaches Jesus, Jesus says something that shocks him...
“Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”
Before the two of them were acquainted, Jesus saw into Nathanael's heart.
This story teaches us 2 important lessons...
1. We can lead others to Jesus by inviting them to, "Come and See!"
2. When we "Come and See" Jesus, we discover it is really HIM who sees us.
