Each year, we have the joy of celebrating Easter. Easter is the day that we as Christians celebrate Jesus rising miraculously from the dead!
Almost 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was put to death on a cross. He was put to death as a criminal because He declared Himself to be God's Son. But even this was part of God's loving plan; He gave us His only Son to die on the cross in our place and take the penalty for our sins.
For three days, Jesus was in the tomb. But on the third day, He rose victorious from the dead! God raised Him up in victory over sin and hell and death. Today, Jesus sits at the right hand of God the Father in heaven. Some day we will see Him!
So Easter celebrates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. As He rose in victory over death, so we can live in victory because of Christ's resurrection power in our lives. We can have victory and newness of life because of Jesus in our lives! Because He lives, we can live also!
