"...think about these things."
What are the things that demand your attention every day? Where do your thoughts normally go when you have a moment to rest? There's a spiritual battle going on for your heart and mind, and the outcome is the person you will become.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
True: Fill your mind with the Word of God, not the drama of the news, not the babble and noise of Facebook, or the gossip of friends and family.
Honorable: Fill your mind with things that point to the glory of God, not with anything you have to hide or lie about.
Just: Don't allow injustice. Do the right thing, and don't spend time considering how to get away with doing the wrong thing.
Pure: The entertainment industry is filled with compromising language, violence, and sexual immorality. Don't give it a foothold in your mind.
Lovely, commendable, excellence, worthy of praise: It's clear that if we live focused on the beauty and worth of Jesus, there's nothing on this planet that can compete. Meditate on Him, and ruin your appetite for all else.
