In John 3, Jesus tells Nicodemus, "...unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." So, how can we be born again?
Nicodemus is very confused. He wonders, "How can someone be born when they are old? There is no way to get back into your mother's body!" Nicodemus trusts that Jesus is from God because he sees the signs and wonders Jesus does.
Jesus teaches Nicodemus and us, that this rebirth He's referring to is not about our bodies being born again, but our spirits. Our spirits are the part of us that can have relationship with God.
Jesus reveals God's plan for our salvation in John 3:16-17...
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."
