There are times in my life when I don't know what to say to God. I'm sure we think it is easy enough to pray and ask God for things that we want for ourselves, our family, or friends. And it is certainly not hard to praise Him and thank Him for His provisions in our life. Even when we think we are praying for good things in our eyes, we must remember that His ways are higher than ours and we will always be fighting the human nature within us. What we want is not always the best thing for us or a part of God's plan.
We may find prayer harder when we are facing hard times or difficult decisions. It is often during those times that confusion hits and we aren't really sure what we should be praying for. We know we need something, but we aren't sure what will or can help us. We are at a loss for words.
"For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. " Isaiah 55:9
"Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words." Romans 8:26
When you accepted Jesus, The Holy Spirit came to live in you. The Spirit helps us in ways that we cannot imagine. Even though we may not always ask for the right things or know the right words to say; we can be comforted by knowing that the Great Comforter is working in us and for us!
