Jesus often spoke in parables when he taught. What is a parable? A parable is often described as an earthly story with a heavenly meaning. Today, we are going to look at one of the shortest parables taught by Jesus; it is often called The Pearl Of Great Price.
The Pearl Of Great Price
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it." Matthew 13:45-46
Like the merchant in the story, we are all seeking for things that we see as good in this world. The merchant is seeking the good pearls but finds the best. When he finds the one pearl that is of great value-he gives up everything for it!
When we are searching for something good in this world and then find what we need in Christ's grace; we are willing to give up everything for it because we see it as the most costly and precious thing in the world. Grace was not cheap, it came at the high price of Jesus Christ's life, and we should treasure it. Once found we can finally stop searching for more and rest in His grace knowing that we will be a part of the Kingdom of Heaven one glorious day!
