What Is The Difference Between The Wise Man And The Foolish Man?

Jesus tells us the difference between a wise man and a foolish man. What is it?

Here is what Jesus says in Matthew 7:24-28 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

When reading Jesus' words we must pay careful attention to see that Jesus says "everyone who hears these words" is either like the wise man or the foolish man, both hear not just the wise man. The difference is upon hearing His words one did them and one did not do them. Many hear the words of Jesus, but not everyone acts on them.

The people like the wise man will hear the words of Jesus, take them to heart and take action. They build their life on Jesus-the Rock and obey His commands. Then, when troubles come they will be able to stand firm in their faith. On the other hand, people like the foolish man hear Jesus' words and ignore them or say "yes, those are good things to do" but that's it nothing comes from it, they don't build their life on Jesus and they don't obey Jesus' commands. Then, when troubles come their way they aren't able to stand firm because they didn't build their life on Jesus-the rock.

Have you heard and obeyed the commands of Jesus? I pray that you will wisely build your life upon the Rock, that is Jesus!
