Who Is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is God.  There is one God in three persons – God the Father, God Jesus Christ the Son of God, and God the Holy Spirit – God’s Holy Spirit.

To our human minds, this may be hard to totally understand.  There is only one God, but God is manifest in three ways.  So, God, the Father is God; Jesus Christ the Son of God is God, and the Holy Spirit is God.

Jesus calls the Holy Spirit, “the Spirit of truth.”  He said that God would send His Holy Spirit to His disciples.  Jesus said the Holy Spirit would “convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment.”

When we are filled with God’s Holy Spirit after we accept Christ, God wants the fullness of His Holy Spirit to dwell in our lives.  The Bible says the fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  This is God Himself living in our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit.
