Jesus said in the Bible, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
What does it mean to be born again? We cannot be born a second time physically. We can, however, be born again spiritually.
When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, it is like being born again. We are newborn children because our sins are forgiven and we are born as a new baby into God’s kingdom as His child.
Without knowing Jesus Christ as our Savior, we cannot be born again. We are captives of our sins and of our old life. The Bible says “ It is appointed unto man once to die, and after that comes judgment.” All of us have sinned, and we deserve hell as the just punishment for our sins.
Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. We must acknowledge our sins and ask God’s forgiveness and ask Jesus Christ to be our Savior and Lord. When God forgives our sins because of Jesus’ death for us, we are like newborn babies spiritually. We become clean in God’s sight and we are born again spiritually.
Now there is a “new you” – as a spiritual child of God. You have been forgiven – you have been born again as a new baby in Jesus Christ. None of us can become a child of God without faith in Jesus Christ. But with faith in Jesus Christ, our sins can be wiped away and we become new persons in Jesus Christ.
