There are many commandments in the Bible. When Jesus was asked which was the greatest commandment, He said:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
So the first commandment is to love God with all your heart, and soul, and mind. That is our relationship with God. The second commandment is to love our neighbor as ourselves. In another part of the Bible, it says we should do unto others as we would have them do unto us. In other words, treat and love people the way we would want to be treated ourselves.
It is not possible to fulfill either of these commandments in our own strength; we will try and fail. When we accept Christ as our Savior and Lord, and ask to be filled with God’s Holy Spirit, we can ask for God’s help in carrying out these great commandments.
