What are the 2 Shortest Verses in the Bible?

There are 2 different verses are both extremely short -- and both have great messages. What are they?

The Bible actually has several very short verses. Depending on what translation you use, here are two of the shortest.

The shortest in English is John chapter 11, verse 35: "Jesus wept." This is amazing since it shows the compassion of Jesus, who is the Son of God. God has all power and all authority, and yet He still wept as Jesus was surrounded by loved ones of His friend Lazarus who had just died.

Jesus not only has compassion -- He has all power! For He wept at the death of Lazarus and his sorrow and the sorrow of His friends, but He then went on and, with His power as God, raised Lazarus from the dead! Jesus has all love and all power.

Another very short verse, which is also two words, is found in 1 Thessalonians 5:16. Technically it could be called shorter since in the original language it was only two words, where "Jesus wept" was three words.

This verse reads, "Rejoice always." We are to always rejoice, whatever the circumstances, because God is with us!

While there also two other very short verses, these two:  "Jesus wept" and "Rejoice always" -- have wonderful messages to encourage our hearts each day.
