Easter is celebrated around the world. What is the true meaning and what does it mean for you every day?
Easter is when Christians all around the world celebrate Jesus rising from the dead!
Over 2,000 years ago, Jesus was born as the Son of God to the Virgin Mary. He grew up and lived in Israel and His public ministry began when he was 30 years old. Over the next 3 and 1/2 years He healed the sick, taught people about God, performed many miracles, and led His disciples.
After 3 and 1/2 years He was crucified on a cross of wood where He died. He died to pay the penalty for the sins of the world; He died in our place.
But death could not hold Jesus, neither could the grave. Angels at His tomb told His disciples, "He is not here, for He has risen!" As Jesus Christ conquered sin and death, so you too can be raised to newness of life as you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.
As a popular song says,
"Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, all fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future,
Life is worth living just because He lives."
Jesus Christ is victor over the grave, and as we accept Christ as our Savior and Lord we too share in His victory and in newness of life.
