Grace is a word that we hear, but often do not know what it really means. Why is God's grace so important to you?
Someone once said that Grace stood for:
God's
Riches
At
Christ's
Expense
Grace is called "unmerited favor." That simply means that God blesses us and pours out His love on us even though we do not deserve it!
This can be hard for us to truly comprehend. We are very used to a world where we earn our way -- where we get what we deserve -- where people reward us only if we deserve it. Yet all of us have sinned and done or thought things that are wrong. How can we deserve God's love and acceptance and forgiveness and blessing?
The key is God, like an incredibly loving heavenly Father, loves us and wants to bless us even if we don't deserve it. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so we could be forgiven. And as the Bible says, if God did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not with Him freely give us all things?
So God loves us and wants to bless us - even if we don't deserve it! That is one definition of grace.
