Who Is Jesus Christ?

Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died on the cross for our sins.  Jesus is far more than just a prophet – He is God Himself who came to earth and was born as a little baby more than 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem in Israel.

There is one God who is in 3 persons – God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit.  When Jesus came to earth more than 2,000 years ago, He was born of the Virgin Mary with God as His Father.  So Jesus is God Himself here on earth in the flesh; He is the Son of God; and He became a man.

Jesus lived on earth for 33 years.  The word “Christ” is not really His last name, it means “Savior” or “Messiah” – the one who saves and delivers us from our sins.

Jesus lived a life without sin.  He taught people in Israel about God and how to love and serve God.  At the end of His life, He was put to death on a cross in a horribly painful death.  He deserved to be worshipped as God, but ungodly men put Him to death.  Jesus gave Himself willingly as a sacrifice for you and for me and for the sins of the world.  He was without sin, but He made Himself sin on our behalf.  Jesus died for our sins.

“Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and … He was buried, and … He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and … He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve.  After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time…” He later ascended into heaven, where He sits at the right hand of God the Father.  Some day Jesus will return to this earth to rule forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
