We all have things in life that get our time, attention and praise. But, are these things worthy of our praise?
We give our time and attention to many things in life that either demand it from us or that we give it to away freely because we love that person or thing. But those things are not meant to be praised, loved yes, but not praised.
So, who or what deserves our praise? God, God is the only one who is deserving of our praise! We shouldn't see praising God as a duty that we have to fulfill; it's not just another thing to check off our list. Praise to God is so much more! Praise is an intimate offering to the Lord from our hearts acknowledging who God is and what He has done for us. I encourage you to stop and think about what gets the most praise in your life. Is it God or is it something else?
There are so many many verses about praise in the Bible that I had trouble picking just a few, but here are some of my favorites. I hope you are blessed by them!
"A Psalm for giving thanks. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations." Psalm 101:1-5
"Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!"
"O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure."
"Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name." Hebrews 13:15
