This week we remember Jesus dying for us. Why did it have to happen?
This Friday is Good Friday, and Christians all over the world honor Jesus who on that day almost 2,000 years ago gave His life for us.
Why did He die?
All of us on earth have sinned -- we have done or said or thought many things that are wrong. Our sins separate us from God who is righteous and holy, and our sins deserve the punishment of sin and death.
Someone had to pay that penalty -- either us or someone had to pay it for us. Jesus Christ is and was the sinless Son of God Who came down to this earth. In dying on the cross, He took the punishment that you and I -- and all humanity -- deserve.
God the Father loved us all so much that He gave His only Son Jesus to die for us -- to pay with His blood the penalty for our sins.
"Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins."
So when Jesus died for us, He paid the penalty for our sins. Now it is up to us to ask God's forgiveness and accept the free gift of His Son Jesus Christ Who paid for our sins in our place.
Thank you Jesus!
