Jesus Christ came to this earth 2,000 years ago. He was born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified and killed and buried. But, on the third day, He rose again!
After being seen by His disciples for a number of days, Jesus then rose into heaven, where He sits at the right hand of God the Father. And some day – we do not know the day or the hour, but some day Jesus will come back to this earth again.
Right now, Jesus is present on this earth every day by the power of the Holy Spirit, and living in and through the lives of His followers. So Christ is truly present on this earth today, but He is working through His body the church.
Some day, as described in the Book of Revelation in the Bible, Jesus will come back to earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He will rule and will reign on this earth for evermore, and every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
