When you think of home what comes to mind? Maybe it is the place where your family is, the city or country that you live in or maybe it is somewhere you long to be.
In the Bible, we read that we should not become too attached to this world. This world is just our temporary home until we are home with God in eternity. You see, we are travelers here and our job while on our journey to our final destination is not glorify ourselves, but to glorify God in all that we do.
"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever." 1 John 2:15-17
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19-21
This world is not our home, and though we may love parts of it, our ultimate love and devotion should not be to things in the world, but to our God and the things that matter to Him!
