The Bible records two different animals talking. What were they and what did they say?
1. The Serpent in the Garden of Eden.
"Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” ' Genesis 3:1
2. Balaam's donkey when an angel appeared on the road.
"Then the Lord opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?” 29 And Balaam said to the donkey, “Because you have made a fool of me. I wish I had a sword in my hand, for then I would kill you.” 30 And the donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your donkey, on which you have ridden all your life long to this day? Is it my habit to treat you this way?” And he said, “No.” '
Numbers 22:28-30
Now, we know that snakes and donkeys don't actually speak with their own words. In the times listed above the animal was just a vessel for use by another being. The serpent was being used by Satan and Balaam's donkey was being used to send him a message from God.
